I decided to start the year off using leftover black-eyed peas for my first burger.
The finished burger was very tasty. The process to get to the finish burger did not go as well as I expected and I was very worried that Burger number one was going to be horrid.
I didn't exactly follow one recipe. When the mixture from the initial recipe was too thin, I did more searching, and took elements from several other recipes to see if I could fix the runny mess.
The original recipe called for baking the burgers, but I decided to use the bacon fat to fry several of them. That was a very good decision!
The flavor of the bean mixture was great. I wasn't worried about the taste. I was mostly worried about the consistency. 3.75 out of 5 stars.
